A brave New Balance

Our review of the New Balance elliptical trainer may be the only one you'll find online. In fact, you won't find many reviews anywhere for these machines, because they haven't been on the market long. So far, New Balance makes four trainers: the 5.5, 8.0, 9.0, and 9.5. The 5.5 is the least expensive of the four, retailing at $600; the other New Balance elliptical trainers can be had for $699, $999, and $1,199, respectively.

Any decent fitness equipment review must run down the features of the products it reviews, and our review is no different. All four New Balance elliptical machines are the ski-stepper variety, and like any good cross trainer, they come with electronics that let you review your speed, heartrate, distance covered, etc. at a glance. The 8.0, 9.0, and 9.5 have a variety of built-in fitness programs, too. They're all rugged, club-quality machines that don't take up much space.

What a warranty!

When you buy an elliptical machine from New Balance, you're getting one of the best warranties in the business. Most companies offer a 3-year overall warranty; a New Balance machine comes with a ten-year warranty for the frame, with two years for the electronics and one for parts.
